Market Day Volunteer Opportunities

marketday3Newtown’s Historic Association sponsors Market Day every year on the first weekend in October. This event has been held successfully for over 40 years and has become a Newtown tradition. Market Day is dependent on the many hours of work done by volunteers. Without the efforts of the community, we could not produce this event.

High School Students can earn credit for LINCS and other volunteer requirements. Scout troops and other organizations are encouraged to participate in this community event. Activities for volunteers include things like:

  • early morning set-up and afternoon clean-up
  • selling water & soda to benefit NHA
  • distributing posters to local businesses
  • setting out signs
  • managing traffic & blockades
  • taking photographs during the day
  • managing the break room
  • …and other activities

We are also seeking volunteer committee members to help during the year with planning; booking crafters & demonstrators; social media & marketing; and making sure the event is a great success!

We start planning Market Day in January. If you are interested in volunteering any amount of time, please email marketday@newtownhistoric.org
