CELEBRATE AMERICA’S 250th BIRTHDAY WITH THE NHA!

The Newtown Historic Association is excited to announce that we will be celebrating America’s 250th birthday throughout the year. In addition to our signature events—Tavern Night, the Spring Garden Cocktail Party, Market Day, and the Holiday House Tour—we invite you to join us for the following special programs and offerings:

Lighthouse Hill Cemetery Walking SignLighthouse Hill Cemetery Heritage Walk Sign Ribbon Cutting Join us on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at 6:30 PM to recognize Juneteenth with the addition of the Lighthouse Hill Cemetery sign to the Newtown Heritage Walk. This marker honors the final resting place of hundreds of African American residents, including formerly enslaved individuals and military veterans.

Pick up your drawing template at the Half‑Moon Inn or Newtown Library Company, or dowload it here.

Age Groups: 3–5 years  |  6–7 years  |  8–9 years  |  10–11 years  |  12+ years

Return completed drawings to the Newtown Historic Association (Court Inn or Callahan Research Center) or the Newtown Library Company during operating hours on or before Aug 8.

Display & Awards:

      • Drawings displayed August 8 during the Newtown Celebrates America 250 celebration
      • Winners announced by August 31
      • Prizes include a Certificate of Recognition, Library Book Sale Gift Card, and a READ Crayon
      • Winning artwork available for purchase on printed canvas from the NHA Logo Store

Family Fun Day at the Half-Moon Inn Family Fun DayJoin us on Sunday, June 28, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Along with docent-led tours of the Half-Moon Inn, we will host activities including a historical dress photo shoot, a George Washington coloring contest, and traditional colonial games.

 

SignHistoric Sign Room Opening at the Half-Moon Inn Join us on Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM to celebrate the opening of the Historic Sign Room at the Half-Moon Inn. Along with docent-led tours, stop by to visit our new exhibit.

Porchfest bannerPorchfest at Half-Moon Inn Join us on Friday, July 17th at 7:00 PM at the Half-Moon Inn and Boone Garden for Porchfest,a Newtown tradition that started over 25 years ago.  If you are new to the community here is how it works:  the host opens up their porch and yard to the community, the host provides a few snacks, a bit of wine and an alcohol free beverage for the kids.  Guests add to the party by bringing a snack and/or wine or beer.  Kids are always welcome, they add to the fun!  We’ll have two corn hole games set up for those interested in playing.  The restrooms in the Court Inn will be open, however, the tavern room and exhibits will be closed.  You are welcome to bring folding chairs to relax in either of our gardens.

Bucks County History Trail The Half-Moon Inn is proud to be featured on the Bucks County History Trail. We are open for guided tours on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Full details regarding the trail can be found here.

 

 

Newtown Celebrates 250Newtown Celebrates America 250

Please save the date for Saturday, August 8, 2026, for a town-wide celebration in Newtown Boro. The day will feature several events, including:
– British and American Militia Skirmish on State Street
– Doan Gang Robbery Reenactment
– William Penn reenactor at Newtown Borough Hall
– Edward Hicks reenactor at Newtown Friends Meeting House
– Harriet Tubman reenactor at Macedonia Church
– Civil War band performance at Newtown Theatre
– Newtown Fire House Museum open house
– Hessian prisoners and graveyard tours at the Old Presbyterian Church of Newtown
– Children’s Colonial Crafts and Military Drills
– Half-Moon Inn docent-led tours

Tavern Night Trivia The NHA will host Tavern Night Trivia at the Half-Moon Inn on Friday, September 18, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Tickets are $20.00 and include trivia cards, two beverages, and light snacks.
