Roy Ziegler is past president and historian of the New Hope Historical Society serving on its board of directors for twenty-four years. He has produced and conducted numerous historic walking tours of New Hope, as well as video documentaries of its history.
On March 15th he will give a talk to the Newtown Historical Association that will trace New Hope’s evolution from a small farming community to its occupation by George Washington’s army during the Revolutionary War. The influx of developers after the war catapulted the small town along the Delaware River to become the industrial and manufacturing capital of Bucks County in the early19th century. The chief catalyst in that development was a young entrepreneur from Philadelphia, William Maris, whose biography Mr. Ziegler recently published, The Mysterious Mr. Maris. Join us to hear all about this fascinating evolution.
This event is free for members. Non-members are also welcome to attend, and donations are always appreciated.
By attending NHA, or NHA-related, events and activities, you allow the Newtown Historic Association (NHA) to record or photograph you during your attendance and to use these images for promotional and archival purposes on any medium for an unlimited period.
